My first board and a GREAT recommendation from Girard! This board has been perfect to get started on the surf and will serve well in the canals as well. I’m looking forward to a more aggressive board now that I’ve built up my skills in a variety of conditions. The Wideboy is a fantastic board to learn on and building confidence. For the price of the boards. They are beauties . But not practical. They are not super super solid as far as surviving a small bump.. sea weed in the Finn or parking on a sand beach for lunch .

Girard, sup surfing in NSB currently on a 8'6" NSP and looking to go smaller - I'm 5'9" and 165/170 (depending on the time of year!). Would you recommend sticking with the wide models or is there a sweet spot in the thinner models that could work well in our mush?

I have recently purchased my 2nd Riviera SUP Surfboard. I had looked around for quite some time, & had bought my first ‘used’ 10’6” to try to surf. Once I got interested, I purchased my first official surfing SUP from Girard at SOBE Surf & it was great!! This opened a whole new world for a surfer coming back into the water surfing world. The board was an 8’8” El Tigre & I literally put down my regular surfboard. I have used the board non-stop for a year whenever there was surf & even used it to paddle in Sykes Creek for exercise. I had always had concerns regarding the durability of the board, because of the price (About $500 less than most others on the market). But my 8’8” is still as good as new. The reason I just purchased my new 7’8” was to drop down & work on getting faster in the waves. Great info. If anyone watching this video from Sobe Surf on the Riviera El Tiger and are in the Cocoa Beach area don't hesitate to stop by and meet Girrard. I purchased a El Tiger 9'8"x 33" from Sobe Surf a couple weeks ago. When out in Cocoa Beach Thursday morning. waves were 2'-4' and choppy. I downsized from a starboard whopper for the choppy conditions. I found the Riviera to be just as stable, it paddled through the surf better and turned quicker.
